Venue Terms

Last updated: 2 October 2026

These terms apply when your business hosts MyLocalAds screens. They sit alongside our Terms of use and Privacy statement. Venues join by invitation during the pilot.

Draft for Metcash review. These terms are written in plain English for the pilot on Sydney's Lower North Shore and are being reviewed by Metcash. They will be formally reviewed before MyLocalAds expands to a second area.

1. What you do, and what we do

You put a MyLocalAds TV Stick into a TV in your venue and keep it powered and online during your opening hours. Metcash finds advertisers, reviews every ad, runs the screens and pays you your share.

2. The TV Stick: your only cost

  • The TV Stick costs $100. There are no plan fees during the pilot.
  • You can pay it upfront, or we take $25 a fortnight from your payouts until it's paid.
  • If you leave before it's paid off, whatever is left comes out of your final payout.
  • Please don't open, modify or move the stick to another business. Contact us if it stops working.

3. What you earn

  • You keep 40% of eligible ad revenue from your screens; Metcash keeps 60% for running the network. Metcash may agree a different share with you in writing.
  • Eligible revenue is what advertisers pay for plays on your screens: by card, with credit they bought, or with credit Metcash grants as paid credit.
  • Plays that earn nothing: purely promotional credit Metcash gives advertisers, Metcash house content, and your own promotions and content. When Metcash runs an offer, it says whether those plays pay venues.
  • A play means the ad ran on the screen. It does not mean someone saw it or bought something. You earn on verified plays only; a play that can't be matched to a decision earns nothing.

4. Statements and payment

  • We close your earnings and send a statement showing your plays, your share and anything deducted. Statements move from monthly to fortnightly during the pilot; we'll tell you when.
  • We pay you by bank transfer through Stripe once you've set up payouts in the console.
  • GST: if you tell us you're registered for GST and give us your ABN, we add 10% GST to your share and issue the statement as a recipient-created tax invoice. If you're not registered, your statement says “No GST (not registered)”.
  • If a payment is reversed or a statement was wrong, we'll correct it on a later statement and show you how.

5. What you control

  • Blocking: you can block ad categories, and specific advertisers such as a competitor, on your screens.
  • Your own content: you can run your own promotions and content between ads, for free.
  • Quiet mode: once it arrives during the pilot, you can turn ads off for up to 24 hours, for example during a private event.
  • Opening hours: ads only play while you're open. Keep your hours up to date.

You don't approve ads yourself. A person at Metcash reviews every ad before it plays, and you can always tell us about one you think shouldn't be on your screen.

6. If a screen goes offline

We'll let you know by email or SMS if a screen stops reporting. Nothing is charged to advertisers for plays that didn't run, so an offline screen earns nothing until it's back.

7. Leaving

You can leave at any time by contacting us. We'll close your earnings, pay what you're owed less anything still due on the TV Stick, and stop the screens. Metcash can end the arrangement with 30 days' notice, or sooner if these terms are broken.
